UPHILL DAILY DEVOTION
Day 18 – January 18, 2026
Topic: Thanking God in Challenges and Trials
Introduction
It is easy to thank God when life is smooth but true faith learns to thank Him even in difficult moments. Challenges and trials do not mean God has left us. Many times they are the very places where He shapes our character strengthens our faith and draws us closer to Him. When we thank God in hard times we are not thanking Him for the pain but for His presence His strength and His promise to bring us through. Gratitude in trials opens our eyes to see God working even when life feels heavy.
Main Passage
“In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV
Four Vital Points
1. God Is With Us in Every Trial: We never walk through challenges alone. God stands beside us strengthens us and carries us when we feel weak.
“When you pass through the waters I will be with you.” Isaiah 43:2
2. Trials Produce Spiritual Growth: Difficult seasons develop patience maturity and deeper faith. God uses pressure to refine us and make us stronger.
“The testing of your faith produces patience.” James 1:3
3. God Works Good Out of Every Situation: Even when we do not understand what is happening God is working behind the scenes to bring good from every challenge.
“All things work together for good to those who love God.” Romans 8:28
4. Gratitude Shifts Our Focus to God’s Faithfulness: Thankfulness helps us see God’s hand instead of our problems. It fills our hearts with hope and reminds us that God is still in control.
“This poor man cried out and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.” Psalm 34:6
