Letting Go of Past Hurts and Regrets

Letting Go of Past Hurts and Regrets

UPHILL DAILY DEVOTION

Day 25 – January 25, 2026

Topic: Letting Go of Past Hurts and Regrets

Introduction

Everyone carries memories of moments that cause pain, disappointment, or regret. These experiences can weigh heavily on the heart if we hold on to them. God does not want us trapped in yesterday. He invites us to release the past so we can walk freely into the future He has prepared. Letting go does not mean the past never happened. It means we choose healing over bitterness and grace over guilt. When we surrender our hurts and regrets to God, He restores our hearts and renews our strength.

Main Passage

“Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.” Philippians 3:13 NKJV

Four Vital Points

1. God Heals the Wounds We Cannot Heal Ourselves

Some hurts run deep but God’s love reaches deeper. He restores what was broken and brings comfort to the hurtful heart.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3

2. Regret Has No Power Over a Forgiven Life

When God forgives us our past no longer defines us. His mercy gives us a fresh start and a new identity.

“If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation old things have passed away behold all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

3. Holding On Keeps Us Stuck Letting Go Sets Us Free

We cannot move forward while clinging to yesterday. Freedom comes when we release the pain and trust God with our story.

“Cast your burden on the Lord and He shall sustain you.” Psalm 55:22

4. God Has a Future Greater Than Our Past

The best days are not behind us. God leads us into hope purpose and restoration when we surrender the past to Him.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you says the Lord thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

Prayer

Lord Jesus, I give You every hurt and every regret. Heal my heart and free me from the weight of the past. Help me forgive release and move forward with faith. Thank You for new beginnings and for the future You have prepared for me. Amen.

Declaration

Today I let go of the past hurts and regrets. God heals me strengthens me and leads me forward. My future is filled with hope because He is with me.
