UPHILL DAILY DEVOTION Day 14
January 14, 2026
Topic: Reflecting and Learning From Past Choices
Introduction
Every believer has made choices they are proud of and choices they wish they could change. God does not want us to live in regret but He does want us to learn from our past. Reflection helps us grow. When we look back with honesty and humility we see where God was guiding us and where we may have gone our own way. Learning from past choices helps us make wiser decisions in the future and walk more closely with Jesus. God uses our past to shape our character and strengthen our faith.
Main Passage
“Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12 NKJV
Four Vital Points
1. Reflection Helps Us See Clearly
When we pause and look back we understand what shaped our decisions. Reflection brings clarity and helps us avoid repeating mistakes.
“Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith.” 2 Corinthians 13:5
2. God Uses Our Past to Teach Us : Even wrong choices can become lessons when we bring them to God. He turns our experiences into wisdom and maturity.
“All things work together for good to those who love God.” Romans 8:28
3. Learning Requires Honesty and Humility : We grow when we admit where we went wrong and allow God to correct us. A humble heart is a teachable heart.
“He leads the humble in justice and He teaches the humble His way.” Psalm 25:9
4. Wisdom Comes From Applying What We Learn : Reflection alone is not enough. We must take what God has shown us and use it to make better choices moving forward.
“A wise man will hear and increase learning.” Proverbs 1:5
Prayer : Lord Jesus help me reflect on my past with honesty and grace. Teach me through every experience and show me how to grow. Give me wisdom to apply what I have learned and guide me into better choices. Thank You for using my past to shape my future. Amen.
Declaration: Today I learn from my past. God teaches me guides me and gives me wisdom. I grow stronger wiser and more faithful with every step I take.
