UPHILL DAILY DEVOTION
Day 20 – January 20, 2026
Topic: Thanking God for Spiritual Growth
Introduction
Spiritual growth is one of the greatest blessings in the life of a believer. It is God who changes our hearts strengthens our faith and helps us become more like Jesus. Growth does not happen overnight. It happens step by step as the Holy Spirit works in us. When we look back and see how far God has brought us we have every reason to give Him thanks. Gratitude for spiritual growth reminds us that God is patient faithful and committed to our transformation.
Main Passage
“He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6 NKJV
Four Vital Points
1. Spiritual Growth Is God’s Work in Us: We do not grow by our own strength. God is the one shaping our character and renewing our minds.
“For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13
2. Growth Happens Little by Little: God develops us over time. Every prayer every step of obedience and every moment in His presence helps us grow.
“The path of the just is like the shining sun that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.” Proverbs 4:18
3. Trials and Challenges Help Us Mature: God uses difficult seasons to strengthen our faith and deepen our trust in Him. Growth often comes through pressure.
“Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” James 1:3
4. Gratitude Keeps Our Hearts Humble: When we thank God for our growth we remember that He deserves all the glory. Gratitude keeps us dependent on Him.
“Without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
Prayer : Lord Jesus thank You for the spiritual growth You have produced in my life. Thank You for changing me, teaching me and leading me. Help me continue to grow in faith, love, and obedience. I give You all the glory for the work You are doing in me. Amen.
Declaration: Today I thank God for my spiritual growth. He is working in me shaping me and strengthening me. I am growing daily by His grace and becoming more like Christ.
