UPHILL DAILY DEVOTION
Day 8 – January 8, 2026
Topic: Commitment to Spiritual Growth and Consistency
Introduction
Spiritual growth does not happen by accident. It happens when we make a daily choice to walk with Jesus, read His Word, pray, and obey His voice. Just like a plant grows when it is watered regularly, our spiritual life grows when we stay consistent. God is not asking for perfection; He is asking for commitment. When we keep showing up, even on days we feel weak or distracted, the Holy Spirit strengthens us and helps us grow.
Main Passage
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 3:18 (NKJV)
Four Vital Points
1. Growth Requires Daily Feeding
We cannot grow spiritually if we only feed on God’s Word once in a while. Just as our bodies need daily food, our spirits need daily Scripture, prayer, and fellowship.
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4
2. Consistency Builds Strength
Small, steady steps create strong believers. Even five minutes of prayer or one chapter of Scripture each day builds spiritual muscles over time.
“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much.” Luke 16:10
3. Growth Happens Through Obedience
We grow when we apply what we learn. Hearing God’s Word is good, but obeying it transforms us.
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only.” James 1:22
4. God Helps Us Stay Consistent
We are not growing by our own strength. The Holy Spirit empowers us, reminds us, and gives us the desire to keep going.
“For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”
Philippians 2:13
Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me stay committed to my spiritual growth. Give me the strength to be consistent in prayer, reading Your Word, and obeying Your voice. Help me grow daily in Your grace and become more like You. Amen.
Declaration
Today I commit to spiritual growth. I choose consistency, I choose obedience, and I choose to walk with Jesus daily. God is strengthening me and helping me grow.
