UPHILL DAILY DEVOTION
Day 50 – February 19, 2026
Topic: Recognizing Toxic Relationships
Introduction
Not every relationship in our lives is healthy. Some connections drain our strength, distract us from God’s purpose or pull us into cycles of confusion and emotional pain. God calls us to love everyone but He also calls us to use wisdom. Discernment helps us recognize relationships that are harmful to our spiritual, emotional or mental well‑being. Recognizing toxic relationships is not about judging others. It is about protecting the purpose God has placed inside us and guarding our hearts so we can grow in Him.
Main Passage
“Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it spring the issues of life.”
Proverbs 4:23
Four Vital Points
- Toxic Relationships Pull You Away From God
Any relationship that weakens your walk with God is unhealthy no matter how familiar or comfortable it feels.
“Do not be deceived Evil company corrupts good habits.” 1 Corinthians 15:33
2. Toxic Relationships Produce Confusion and Strife
God is not the author of confusion. When a relationship constantly brings chaos it may not be from Him.
“For God is not the author of confusion but of peace as in all the churches of the saints.” 1 Corinthians 14:33
3. Toxic Relationships Drain Your Strength and Peace
Healthy relationships build you up. Toxic ones wear you down.
“Better is a dry morsel with quietness than a house full of feasting with strife.” Proverbs 17:1
4. God Gives Wisdom to Set Boundaries
Discernment helps you know when to step back and protect your heart.
“The prudent sees evil and hides himself but the simple pass on and are punished.” Proverbs 22:3
Prayer
Lord Jesus give me discernment to recognize relationships that are unhealthy for my spirit. Help me guard my heart with wisdom and courage. Remove every connection that distracts me from Your will and surround me with people who strengthen my walk with You. Lead me by Your Spirit in every relationship. Amen.
Declaration
Today I walk in discernment. God protects my heart He guides my relationships and He gives me wisdom to recognize what is healthy and what is not.
